Reviews
This is a gourmet check-in spot hidden in the old district of Bordeaux, with an atmospheric decoration. Although they are all classic French colors, the chef is very attentive to the presentation of the dishes. The ingredients are very fresh, and my colleagues and I thought it was so great. We had a pleasant lunch time here, and certainly we will come back again.
Lovely spot, the hidden outdoor patio in the back is a fantastic find! Staff is friendly, knowledgeable on the food and helpful. We tried difference dishes from the hand written menu and each one was a treat. The dishes are a fushion between asian and french cuisine and this place knows how to pull it off.
Definitely leave room for a dessert! We’ll be back.
The highlight of our trip to Bordeaux
During our recent 8-night trip to Bordeaux and Saint Emilion, we dined at some of the top restaurants in the city, including Michelin star establishments. However, the standout meal was at Chai Maestro.
From the warm greeting when we entered to the attentive, friendly service from the manager throughout the night, the dining experience was impeccable.
We began with the tuna tartare, razor clams and shrimp ravioli with foie gras which were all so fresh and expertly prepared. For mains, we had the squid and chorizo risotto made with squid ink, and the beef tartare. The risotto was rich and full of flavor with perfect al dente rice, and the beef tartare was seasoned to perfection. The desserts did not disappoint either - impeccable.
During our entire trip, this was absolutely the best meal we had in Bordeaux. I highly recommend trying as many dishes as possible to fully experience the talented chef's skills. Everything was made from quality ingredients and had so much flavor.
The charming, intimate setting of this local bistro makes it the perfect place for an outstanding French meal. I will certainly return to Chai Maestro first when I visit Bordeaux again in the future. It deserves to be at the top of any Bordelaise dining itinerary.
Definitely one of the dining experiences we had in Bordeaux. Food is really tasty, flavours are well balanced. I had duck confit my partner had squid risotto, and we both enjoyed it very much.
The service is superb, super friendly staff. Last but not least, highly recommend their homemade pineapple rum (on top of wine of course)
We came from Thailand to visit Bordeaux and were very lucky to try this place. Generous serving, affordable prices, delicious food, and friendly staff. What else to expect from a restaurant?
We stumbled to this restaurant on my way back tour accommodation.
We were surprised by the creativity of the menu on display.
So we had dinner there. Ordering 3 entree and 3 mains (for only 2 people, as we were enjoying the food so much)
We loved the octopus, langoustine pasta with foie gras creme, duck's heart, beef tartare, boudin noir et pomme puree, octopus & chorizo black ink risotto and had grand marniere souffle as a finale.
We loved the beer and wines there, great pick 👍
Service was great and friendly.
We wish that we had more time to go back there and tried other dishes, but we had to leave the town on the next day.
Great job Alexis and team 👏
Fantastic food and service at this locals place. Try the homemade pineapple rum. Worth the trek out of the touristy city centre.
Wow, this place is a neighborhood gem. The menu features local and seasonal ingredients and the wine list has solid offerings from all French regions. If you are staying anywhere nearby, you are doing yourself a disservice if you don't have a meal here. The owners are very involved in the hospitality, the food is excellent, and the vibe is welcoming and comfortable. This is a must visit!
